Walking For Health, Kirklees walking is a joint project of WfH and Kirklees Council providing a varied programme of health walks designed to get local people into regular walking. The walks are led by trained volunteers and are suitable for all ages and abilities, particularly if you have not walked regularly for some time. They are also a great way to meet new people and enjoy a chat whilst doing something that can benefit your heath in the fresh air.

The health walks range from half an hour, up to an hour and an hour and a half in duration at a steady pace, if you need something a bit more challenging we also offer "health walk plus walks" which go for a bit longer and at a faster pace. Don't worry no one gets left behind so come and give it a go.

Huddersfield Rucksack Club, On our Sunday walks, we usually meet opposite Greenhead Park bottom gates (Trinity Street/Park Avenue junction), Huddersfield, at 9 am. If we are traveling a long distance to start walking or the walk is a long one, we can meet at 8 am or 8.30 am. We travel to the start of the walk using member's cars and share the cost of the fuel.

We produce a syllabus for Spring/Summer and a further one for Autumn/Winter. Dogs are not allowed on rambles. As we walk over varied terrain, in all weathers, we advise strong walking boots be worn and waterproof clothing be carried. Our pace is usually approximately 2.5 miles per hour, but is determined by the weather and conditions. All walk details are given on the syllabus. We take packed food with us and eat alfresco.
